You control who sees your medical information
You say “yes” or “no” at every visit on a patient consent form. Authorized health care providers who participate in MN HIE can view your medical information only with your permission or in a medical emergency.

You may also choose to “opt out.” If you choose to opt out of MN HIE, participating health care providers will NOT be able to view your medical information—even in a medical emergency.

Your medical information is kept private and secure
MN HIE does not store any medical information about you and strictly complies with all federal and state privacy regulations to keep your medical information private and secure.

You receive better coordinated and efficient care
Viewing your medication history and other clinical information will give your health care providers more complete information to coordinate treatment with other health care providers.
