How does MN HIE work?
Authorized health care providers who participate in MN HIE can view your medical information only with your permission or in a medical emergency.

MN HIE does not store your medical information, it is a record locator service that finds and displays your medical information to participating health care providers.

What is a “record locator service?”
A record locator service functions as an index or card catalog for patient medical records. The record locator service contains just enough information to uniquely identify each patient and provides pointers to the locations of your medical information. It does not contain your medical information.
